JUST because one is out of town doesn't mean you can't check out the local area. Most cities have a river front, historical area, lake area, shopping, There is generally alot to see. See my last post on Elk Horn IA.
I was in Omaha recently and had gone down to 'Old Town Market' where they had rebuilt the warehouse area into artsy shops and cool restaurants. From there I went to the water front, along the Missouri River where Lewis & Clark landed and met with the locals later naming the area... Council Bluffs.
But on my way back out to my hotel, I came across this park.
It is located on the corner of Dodge & 16th called Pioneer Courage Park. Not only was the artistic piece impressive and extremely detailed, I had to admire contrast of current day and the past all in one place.
The entire of Omaha has statues recognizing the courage of the people who left everything to start up in a new land.
