In today's world or air travel, there are alot of extra little charges built in - like checking your luggage and food. So let's talk carry on.
In the US carry on you are allowed two bags. They both must be able to fit either under the seat in front of you (completely) or in the overhead. You can have a small piece of luggage, back pack, carry all, computer bag, purse or fanny pack, to name a few. What I do is carry a small piece of luggage and a bag that will hold my laptop as well as a small purse. As long as when you enter the plane, you only have two bags.
The major point in air travel is liquids. ALL liquids (including toothpaste and lipgloss) must be under 3 oz and fit in a quart size ziplock baggy. This must be removed from your baggage, and placed in the bin to go through security.
Let's chat about some things that can make getting through security a little easier.
> Wear light clothing, no belts, buckels, metal or anything that can't be quickly removed.
> Slip on shoes and/or easy to remove shoes. They will need to go in the bin or on the belt by themselves as some yahoo managed to add an explosive to the bottom of his shoes - now we all pay the price.
> Take sweaters and jackets off before you get to the security line.
> Have your laptop in an area that is easy to remove. You will need to put your laptop in a bin by itself as some yahoo managed to get an explosive into a laptop - now we all pay the price.
> Put your cell phone and change in your bag before you get to security. Or there are bowls available for smaller items like coins, cells, and watches.
> Once you are past the security desk, put your drivers lisence away - you will not need it any longer.
> Keep your boarding pass out because you may have to show it to security when you go through the metal detector.
Once on the other side the kindest thing to do is grab your stuff and move out of line to the table and chairs and reassemble yourself and bags. There is nothing worse then waiting for someone to tie their shoes in line while waiting for your things to come out.
Hints in packing your bag. My goal is to take as little as possible. No need for shampoo....comes in the hotel. Slacks/Pants can be worn for two days. Fresh shirts and undies and something to sleep in. Then you have room in your case for papers and catalogs for your business trip and snacks.
Airlines have started selling sandwiches and snacks on the planes. You must use a debit or credit card. The food is pretty good....but expensive. You can pack food in your luggage. No liquids.....but food yes. So think about the snacks you could carry with you and save a few dollars.
